Description
There are two access points to food hygiene ratings, via a local council’s home page using FIND A COUNCIL or from this page which allows you to search directly for a rating/premises without knowing the local authority involved. There are three steps needed to locate a premises/rating. Firstly choose a location you are interested in. Secondly indicate the search criteria you wish to use and finally click on the search button. You do not need to enter all the search options possible but may use the search button at any time. The search criteria you choose will be remembered between searches and if you return to the search page your last criteria will be displayed.
Key Functions
Selection by either the clicking on the displayed map images or the pull down menus will produce a list of candidate locations in the box on the right. Only those locations for which food hygiene scores have been provided by the respective local council are shown. You may make single or multiple selections from the displayed list at any time and any subsequent search will use these selected locations. If no locations are selected then the search will be for all locations displayed.
MAP IMAGES – Clicking on the UK map image will select a region and display a breakdown of that region. Clicking on the displayed counties will home in further on the locations within that area. The locations available will be displayed in the list box to the right. You may select one or more locations from this list at any time. Having chosen your location you may now refine any selection criteria you may have chosen to further target your search.
REGION/COUNTY MENU – As an alternative to clicking on the map images, two pull down menus located top right are available for selecting locations.
SEARCH CRITERIA - One or more of the search criteria may be used to target the results of your search. Both the name and address selections allow a part word search. The business types shown are those generic to the UK and can be used to search regions and multiple locations. Please note that if the business you are looking for cannot be found this may be because the council who inspect the business do not subscribe to this service. Less is more! Entering the full name, address and postcode details might NOT result in the business being found if the spelling, spacing or other details do not exactly match the way the data has been entered onto the system. Entering just part of one of the search criteria might be more successful, although more results will be returned.
SEARCH - Clicking on the search button will instigate the search using the criteria selected and take you a new page containing the results.
