Scores on the Doors

Client Upload

Description
Inspections are extracted from a back office system using a report which produces an excel format file. A standard format called csv is used to upload to the Scores on the Doors service. A csv file can be produced either in the extract report itself or by the ‘save as’ function within Excel.

As described above, any information is verified before being loaded to the database. An upload also produces a log of this verification process, which is displayed on the screen. This log can be downloaded by clicking on the link displayed. The log comprises three types of entry: green - all OK, orange - warning though data will have been added tot he database and red - where the problem found is too important to be ignored and the database will not have been updated with the record in question.

At the bottom of this page there is a complete description of the upload file’s format and the content of each of the upload fields.

Simulation Only - To upload inspection data simply select the extracted upload file using the browse button and then click on the upload button. There are two check boxes to control the working of the upload process. As the upload functionality has a number of data verification processes built in, it can be useful to use the 'Simulation Only' button to test your data by uploading inspection data without actually updating the information in the database. In this way suspect inspection records can be tested before committing to a database update.

Ignore Blank Scores - Some back office systems may convert zero scores into blanks which will cause the verification routines to add warnings to the upload log. This can cause considerable numbers of warning entries and so selecting 'Ignore Blank Scores' will stop these particular warnings appearing in the log.
